Shellie May of the Caribbean

"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me and also the colors are weird!"

 So...piratical!

Shellie May and I trying to play games we are not really good at

Since the weather was so bad, DisneyQuest was pretty crowded, and we didn't manage to play Dance Dance Revolution because other people were kind of monopolizing it. We played the not-really-Dance Dance Revolution game, though.

And...this I think?

Shellie May with Buzz Lightyear but not really

My BFF, who grew up in Orlando, said it is common for this ride to be down...and it was down when we went too.

"At least the photo kind of turned out." Shellie May is always so cheerful.

Shellie May with Wreck-it Ralph

Poor lighting in DisneyQuest is kind of a theme, so sorry for the terrible photos.

The first thing we went to was...Cyberspace Mountain!

We did a couple coasters. The first one wasn't very scary because I didn't know what I could take. We worked to make the second one the scariest one we could!

"My human's naming skills...were not the best."

Poor Shellie May had to wait in a locker, but she said it was kind of nice to be somewhere quiet and warm. Yay!

Shellie May at DisneyQuest

So we took a long long LONG walk in the COLD and the RAIN to go to...

"It is DisneyQuest!"

(Our package came with free admission, or else we certainly wouldn't have bothered.)

Shellie May and WALL-E and EVE

"Yay! WALL-E and EVE!"

This pin store was pretty much the only place I saw them in January 2014...but I was still excited.

Shellie May goes downtown

So after a long wait in frigid cold wind, we FINALLY got on a bus to...

"Yay! It is Downtown Disney!"

Shellie May at Contempo Café

So it was Josh at Easywdw.com who had said the Contempo Café was very good, so I'd planned for us to eat there.

And they had Frozen cupcakes!  (This was January 2014, when Frozen things were hard to come by.)

 "YAY! IT IS ANNA!"

Darn it, I had wanted a lobster roll, and bam, there it is. It was good if you like a mayo-ish lobster roll...very good!  The sesame/soy sauce green beans were cold...and also VERY GOOD! It was almost worth the frostbite we got to get there. (We technically did not get frostbite but oh my it was a cold journey.)

I read this mural is 9 stories tall? Wow!

Shellie May with Mary Blair mural

The Contemporary Resort has a giant mural by Mary Blair! I do not think it is very contemporary, but it is pretty neat.

My mom would love it, I think! If we ever go back to WDW, we are thinking of doing a short trip and staying here.

"WOW!" said Shellie May. "It would be SO MUCH FUN to stay at a Monorail Resort and pretend that we had a lot of money!"

Shellie May at the Contemporary

Since it was so cold, we hopped on a bus and made our way to the Contemporary. It was very neat! As soon as we got in, a friendly employee asked us where we wanted to go. I told him, the Contempo Cafe, and he kindly directed us!

First we stopped for a quick trip to the restroom though, and also pressed pennies. There was a family also getting pressed pennies (one of the parents or guardians had to warn them not to get the quarters because they were too expensive. I agree!)

Goodbye, Magic Kingdom

It was BITTER COLD outside and we were glad to get into a bus.

"Goodbye, Magic Kingdom! I hope I can come back someday!"

Shellie May meets Mickey the Magician

YES! We met Talking Mickey the Magician!

He seemed to think of Shellie May as a baby. He also hit my BFF in the face repeatedly with his ears, which amused me but not her so much.

And he did a card trick for us! LOL. (It was so empty in the parks we waited about 2 minutes to meet him!)

Shellie May is impatient

"Oh boy oh boy I am so excited!" said Shellie May.

"I appreciate that, but hold still, please."

"But...I am excited!!!"

Shellie May looking out

"Awww," said Shellie May. "I am sad to leave but glad we had such a good time--"

"Hey, wait!" I said. "One more thing!"

Shellie May with Delicious Daisy

"Hi, Daisy!"

Shellie May, ssh! She is working. Please do not distract her.

"Oops. Sorry, Daisy!"

Shellie May-sa Verde

I had to make Shellie May get a picture with the Horizons-reference luggage.

I like Mesa Verde from Horizons because it was definitely very much inspired by the American Southwest, i.e. my home state. I read that they even consulted with a scientist from the college I went to, to figure out how they could make the desert into a realistic paradise.

And Shellie May loves it because I love it! :)

Shellie May adventuring with Belle

Shellie May liked Maurice's workshop, even though it was very dark.

"Yay! It is the Wardrobe!"

My BFF got to be the Wardrobe in the storytime, which was great because she is a good actress. :)

Belle was lovely!

"My human asked for a bookmark really nicely and they smiled and gave her one. What a nice Cast Member!"

A beauty but a funny bear

"Little town, it's a quiet village. Every day like the one before."

"Little town, full of little bears...waking up to say..."

"Bonjour!"

This queue was very nice. We had a Fastpass+ (if we hadn't, we might not have gone to Magic Kingdom so early!) but given the VERY LOW CROWDS in late January, it was really unnecessary.  A nice mother pointed out Shellie May's outfit and my painted Anna jeans to her daughter(s) and seemed to think they were both really really neat! The girls seemed less impressed but that is OK.

Shellie May and stanchions in Ariel's Grotto

"My human was VERY IMPRESSED by the shell post-caps in Ariel's Grotto. Also you can see her MagicBand that she painted with nail polish back when that was a thing."

"YAY! The line is very short. We just went to get a picture of my human and her BFF with Ariel, though. I already had a great shot of me. Tee hee."

Shellie May's grotto

"WOW! Ariel's cave is SO PRETTY! Can I be a mermaid too?"

I am afraid it is too cold for you to be a mermaid today, Shellie May.

"Aw."
