Getting close

"I can see people loading!" said Tiny Shellie May.

"Maybe we should ditch her and ride with someone else," said Tiny Duffy.

Duffy's Spring-ish Voyage part 8

Point 3. Baskets! My mom loves baskets. Shellie May does too!

"Do all women like baskets?" asked Tiny Duffy.

"I don't know," I said. "I don't."

"There's not even anything delicious in this basket," said Tiny Duffy.

"It is pretty, though," said Tiny Shellie May.

Point 4 is the barber shop!

My tiny bears do not care for razors or haircuts, so they were careful to hold hands for safety.

Point 5 is the Tinsmith's Shop! Beautiful shiny things inside.

Hurry up!

"We're soooo close!" said Tiny Duffy.

Looking out at Paradise Pier

So pretty! World of Color will be starting soon.

You can make out two of my favorite rides at DCA in the background!

Tiny Bears near Toy Story Midway Mania

DCA had been officially closed for a few minutes by now.

"I am ready to play now please," said Tiny Shellie May.

"Just a few minutes," I told her.

And there was light

Yes! Much better! Now we can see the tiny bears AND Paradise Pier at night. Two of my favorite things!

Do you think the 3-D will work?

OK, if you've been to DCA much I'll bet you know where they are.

"Will we be able to see Toy Story Midway Mania in 3-D?" asked Tiny Duffy.

"I...don't know," I said.

Last Night of Our Trip

This was a strange moment for me. It was Monday night at Disneyland, off-season, when both parks close at 8 PM. Normally I stay in Disneyland for the last night of my trip...but with World of Color starting at 8:15 PM, and one important ride I hadn't yet been on, I realized that I'd get more out of my evening if I parkhopped to DCA. So strange as it was...I did.

Hey look! Fireworks! (This is from the esplanade between the parks.)

We had enough time to go visit Ariel one more time...

...and then just a few minutes before park closing...where are we?

Next stop, Star Tours!

I had no desire to be the rebel spy--I don't photograph well--but I wanted to see all the possible Star Tours combinations...I was a few short at this point. Anyway...away we go!

Hey, remember that 7:10 Space Mountain Fastpass return time? I do. Here we go again!

Monday, August 20, 2012

Oh dear

This is seriously unsafe and I think against Disneyland policy, though I didn't consider that last part at the time.

Not saying it wasn't funny though. I mean, kids, don't even think about doing such a reckless thing.

Main Street is beautiful at Christmas...

There's nothing like the beautiful atmosphere of Main Street at Christmas.

But seeing Fastpasses available for Space Mountain well after 6:30 PM on a day the park closes at 8?

That's just as beautiful, in my opinion. 7 minutes later, we were ready to board!

Do horses mind flash photography?

"I think that is gear for the horses that pull the fire wagon," said Tiny Duffy.

"I think my sensitive blue eyes are blinded by the flash," said Tiny Shellie May.

Hanging out at the fire station

"I think this pose makes my wings look very nice," said Tiny Shellie May.

I am glad it is not cold out

This could have been very painful if the stove were in use...I imagine the whole thing would get very warm.

I still didn't let the tiny bears put their tiny paws on the stovetop, just in case.

I hope there are no fires

"I hope there is not a fire," said Tiny Duffy. "This is very comfortable place to stand."

"Also, we don't want any part of Disneyland to burn down," said Tiny Shellie May.

Duffy's Spring-ish Voyage part 7

Sauder Village is quite large...my brother looked at the map and thought we all (including his baby) could easily get through everything by 5 PM, even though it was close to noon when we finally got in. There are 40 (!) stops on the map.

If it were completely up to me, I think I would've started nearer to the end, since last time I'd visited, we missed a lot of the things at the end. But it was my brother and his wife's first time (also the baby's)...so we started with point 1.

1. Erie's Farm Shop! This is where Erie Sauder first started tinkering with woodworking.

I shyly asked the guide for a photo with the bears. I believe he's the only one I asked. As fun as tiny bears are, my brother and his wife's tiny human was a much better conversation piece.

2. Sauder Cabinet Shop. The guide showed us a few human-powered tools, which were amazing.

Tiny Bears on a Pole

"Where are we?" asked Tiny Shellie May.

"I think we are trying to climb up the fire pole," said Tiny Duffy.

"If we get up there, do you think we'd really reach Walt Disney's apartment?" asked Tiny Shellie May.

"I don't know," said Tiny Duffy.

Duffy at Main Street Fire Station

This does not look very comfortable for Tiny Shellie May.

And this does not look particularly comfortable for either bear!

Maybe this is why my bears don't wear shoes.

"Also, I think maybe there is dust in the air," said Tiny Shellie May.

Ssssh.

Disneyland and DCA at night

So we went and visited Ariel again.

I love her building...the detailing reminds me a bit of a building in Coney Island. :D

Then we wandered back to Disneyland...

...and missed the Christmas parade again! Darn it. At least we saw Santa.

It's always good to do something you've never done before...here is something I've never done before at Disneyland.

Do you know where Tiny Duffy and Tiny Shellie May are?

Tiny Duffy at Aladdin Show

"We are waiting for a show," said Tiny Duffy.

The curtain finally rose...I think my mom took this one.

I always try to get a picture of the pegasus.
