Good night, California Adventure!

Paradise Pier is not quite the same as Main Street after closing, but it is still neat.

These shots were right around 9 PM when World of Color was scheduled for 8:15 PM (I think) and was canceled early.

So I love the Golden Zephyr so much I photographed it twice. Is that wrong?

"Actually, she photographed it many more times," said Tiny Shellie May.

So you can make out a few other people if you squint.

 

"Can we stay here and never leaf?" asked Tiny Duffy by DCA's exit.

"I think you mean leave," I said.

"No, leaves."

SIGH.

Strange World of Color

Then things got really weird at RoloC fo dlroW, or if you prefer, World of Color. (By the way, Jeff is the one who came up with that phrase. Isn't he witty?)

OK, the fire is normal.

This? Not so much.

The show just STOPPED at probably the very worst spot possible (the Lion King if I recall correctly!). It did not restart. I understand this is a one-time only problem that will never happen again.

Tiny Duffy, Tiny Shellie May and I stayed away from the viewing area for a while, in case people were upset.

Weird way to end our last night at the parks!

Then things got weird at Roloc fo dlroW

"What is going on?" asked Tiny Shellie May.

For some reason, the lights came on around the back of Paradise Pier. The World of Color music switched to the Paradise Pier music. WEIRD!!!

It was really weird.

Belatedly, we decided to take advantage of the scenery of the back side of Paradise Pier.

My favorite part of World of Color is the music and the colored fountains, both of which you can see fine from the other side of Paradise Bay. My least favorite part is the crowds...and there are no crowds on the wrong side!

You can kind of see the projections from certain angles.

 

This is not a great view, but looks very comfortable.

Outside of Toy Story Midway Mania

It was about 8:17 PM or so when we left Toy Story Midway Mania. You go up stairs and get to see a kind of interesting little seaside area.

The whole queue and exit reminds me of something in Cedar Point in Ohio.

I think Buzz is happy with us.

Actually, they're not. Walls are not metallic.

"Hurry, bears," I said. "You don't want the ride to start without us, do you?"

"I can see people loading!" said Tiny Shellie May.

"Maybe we should ditch her and ride with someone else," said Tiny Duffy.

Hurry up!

"We're soooo close!" said Tiny Duffy.

"I would like to ride now," said Tiny Duffy.

"Soon," I sighed.

So pretty! World of Color will be starting soon.

The suspense is killing us!

At least we are in the pretty area of the queue.

And there was light

Yes! Much better! Now we can see the tiny bears AND Paradise Pier at night. Two of my favorite things!

Do you think the 3-D will work?

OK, if you've been to DCA much I'll bet you know where they are.

"Will we be able to see Toy Story Midway Mania in 3-D?" asked Tiny Duffy.

"I...don't know," I said.

Last Night of Our Trip

This was a strange moment for me. It was Monday night at Disneyland, off-season, when both parks close at 8 PM. Normally I stay in Disneyland for the last night of my trip...but with World of Color starting at 8:15 PM, and one important ride I hadn't yet been on, I realized that I'd get more out of my evening if I parkhopped to DCA. So strange as it was...I did.

We had enough time to go visit Ariel one more time...

...and then just a few minutes before park closing...where are we?

Main Street is beautiful at Christmas...

There's nothing like the beautiful atmosphere of Main Street at Christmas.

But seeing Fastpasses available for Space Mountain well after 6:30 PM on a day the park closes at 8?

That's just as beautiful, in my opinion. 7 minutes later, we were ready to board!
